Hard work rewarded at Burraga
Ten employees from Burraga's Australian United Timbers have been rewarded for their hard work by completed their traineeships, which were completed through Orange TAFE's Mining and Forestry Primary Industries and Natural Resources unit.
Nine employees completed their Certificate III in Sawmilling and Processing, and one received their Certificate IV.
"It is great for these guys to be recognised for their skill and knowledge by means of formal qualifications", said Kim Barlow, Manager of the Burraga Mill.
The employees only took 18 months to complete the 2 year course. Central West Community College provided a teacher once a fortnight to assist staff members in their studies.
"Over half our workforce is now formally qualified in most areas of Sawmilling and Processing, which not only provides us with skilled labour but also enhances their employment opportunities", said Kim.
There was a luncheon held at the Burraga Sports Club to celebrate their achievement, where the employees were presented their certificates by the TAFE assessors.
